Prior to joining 1% For The Planet, Melissa spent two and a half years as the Visitor & Member Services Manager at the Newburyport Maritime Society in Newburyport, Massachusetts. NMS is a non-profit organization dedicated to interpreting and preserving the maritime history of the Lower Merrimack River Valley. Melissa's chief responsibilities involved managing the membership program and providing administrative support for the entire organization. Before working at NMS, she was a seasonal Park Interpreter for five years at Maudslay State Park in Newburyport. Melissa has a Bachelors degree in Park Management from Unity College, a small school in rural Maine dedicated to preparing its graduates to be responsible environmental stewards.
